Ben Whittaker impressively destroys overmatched Gavazi in one round
A quick recap of all the action, including Pacquiao Jr and a British heavyweight slugfest
It wasn’t easy tracking down footage of everything that happened over the past few days, but I finally managed to catch up on all the important bits and pieces.
Ben Whittaker Won KO 1 Benjamin Gavazi
Whittaker made mincemeat of Germany’s Gavazi with a clinical first-round removal job. This is actually what you need to do to overmatched opponents: erase them early. Tougher tests will come, but the Matchroom link-up is off to a good start.
I’m not that fussed on the mention of a Dan Azeez fight. Think Craig Richards would be a solid workout. Azeez and ‘Spider’ meet in Ghana next month and the winner would represent a sound next step for ‘The Surgeon’.
Cameron Vuong Draw PTS 10 Gavin Gwynne
This rematch of their first fight (close, competitive, won by Vuong UD in 2024) ended in a majority stalemate in Birmingham last night after 10 rounds of graft.
It was a case of Vuong’s better-picked shots versus Gwynne’s prodding jab and workrate. In the end, two 95-95 scores cancelled out a 97-93 to Vuong. Making it a 12-rounder would’ve sorted things out there and then.
Frazer Clarke Lost PTS 12 Jeamie “TKV” Tshikeva
“This is a hard-hitting affair for the vacant Lord Lonsdale belt!” roared Ronald McIntosh midway through round four. It wasn’t always pretty, but the 12-round rumble between an increasingly-exhausted Frazer Clarke and the dogged Jeamie TKV was a fun return for boxing on the BBC. TKV went home with the previously vacant British title for his efforts.
Hughie Fury Won TKO 1 Michael Webster
Now 31 years old, sporting a 30-3 record, Hughie Fury still feels like a bit of a prospect in some respects. Tyson’s cousin scored a first-round stoppage of Middlesbrough’s heavily tanned Webster, who quickly had enough and bailed.
This fight was in Rotterdam. Hughie could be looked at as a future foe for the likes of Moses Itauma, or he may continue picking up obscure wins on the road.
Emmanuel Pacquiao Jr. Draw PTS 4 Brendan Lally
Taking place on the undercard of Lorenzo Parra Jr vs. Elijah Pierce (which was mysteriously cancelled at the last minute), young Pac was all set to get his pro career off to a flying start, but it was not meant to be. Fellow debutant Lally gave as good as he got, forcing a four-round majority draw.
Justin Pauldo Won RTD 7 Nike Theran
Pro Box TV main events usually deliver the goods with hooks winging from all angles. This one was of a more tactical affair, seeing Pauldo work off the jab after being buzzed early.
The victor is closing in on a world title crack at lightweight after forcing Colombian opponent Nike Theran to retire after seven rounds in the Fresno main event.
Samuel Molina Lost PTS 12 Egidijus Kavaliauskas
A tough evening’s work for Spain’s Molina, who thought he had done enough to keep hold of the EBU welterweight crown on away turf in Lithuania. The judges thought otherwise, awarding a bloodied power-punching Kavaliauskas the win.

Great as ever!
Pretty glad you have mention to some of the other events - unfortunately I haven’t seen anything from the GBM show yet but I know that the Fury-Webster fight wasn’t exactly anything to shout about haha! :)
