Najee Lopez landed a cracking shot to Juan Carrillo’s gut in their light-heavyweight clash. At the time, referee Edward Hernandez Sr ruled it an illegal shot, giving Carrillo recovery time and allowing a further three minutes to commence.
That gave the California Commission time to watch it back on instant replay. Soon, they were giving the ref instructions to end matters.
