Hamzah Sheeraz makes surprising prediction for Eubank-Benn rematch
Unbeaten super-middleweight linked with a weird return opponent of his own
As he searches for a suitable dance partner to help him reach the next level, Hamzah Sheeraz has been presented with a couple of head-scratching options.
Present and correct at last weekend’s Fabio Wardley-Joseph Parker fight (where he held rank and picked stablemate Parker to prevail by KO), the super-middleweight banger was quizzed by DAZN on a possible rematch with Edgar Berlanga, as if anybody would want to see that again.
“I don’t know where that’s come from. I saw it yesterday, but it’s all rubbish to be fair. I don’t know what I had to do with him in his hometown in New York. On to bigger and better things now,” he stated.
Now that’s not to say Sheeraz wouldn’t welcome a second opportunity to bash mouthy Berlanga about and pick up a fat check for privilege.
“If I had to, I would. I mean, I’d probably get it done quicker than I got it done last time, but on to bigger and better things for myself.”
Those bigger and better things might include the winner of Eubank-Benn 2 on November 15. That was a bit of a blindside question when you consider the prospect of a minuscule Conor Benn, who began his career slightly below 147 pounds, attempting to reach the spidery Sheeraz frame and inflict damage.
“Yes, definitely. We’ll see what happens,” he said when pondering a dance with the winner.
“I’m someone who, in the current climate of boxing as it is now, I’ll fight whoever I need to fight, you know what I mean? But yeah, we’ll see what happens. You never know, you can never say never.”
Well served, Hamzah. Surely, a fight with Benn is not realistic? Well, it seemingly could be if the 29-year-old former consumer of multiple egg-based dishes gets the job done. Sheeraz, who is currently being linked to Jaime Munguia, reckons that’s well within the realms of possibility.
“I’ve got Conor Benn to win inside six rounds. I feel like the weight will affect Eubank too much, [even more than] it affected him before as well. And it was a hard fight, it wasn’t an easy fight. Yeah, Conor Benn to win inside about six rounds.”

Sheeraz has no shortage of options at 168. Caleb Plant and Diego Pacheco are good options. Pacheco sounds really good because they are at the same point of their careers.
