Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte - Fight Predictions
Plus, Ball-Goodman, Ford-Nova & Hrgovic-Adeleye
A big fight card this weekend demands some big predictions. I didn’t do too badly with my last set of tips (it wasn’t amazing either, to be honest). Let’s get back in the ring and throw a few more wild shots out there. Also, let me know what YOU are thinking in Riyadh this weekend.
Moses Itauma vs. Dillian Whyte
Lauded as the next big thing at heavyweight, Itauma has certainly looked the part, blasting through more pretenders than contenders. The Whyte scalp will be a good name on the record. I believe this version of Whyte is washed up.
It’s a nice cash-out for the veteran heavy who will cop an early uppercut and feel the ferocity of Itauma. Bigger tests will come and Itauma will test the usual boxes of chin, stamina, and resolve, in fights to come. Not against Whyte though, who has nothing left. An early blastout is expected.
Steve’s prediction: Itauma TKO 4 Whyte

Nick Ball vs. Sam Goodman
While I’m not convinced that he’s a massive puncher, once Ball gets into a groove, he is a hard man to deter. Goodman is solid with good skills and might bank a few early rounds, like Rey Vargas did. Once Ball hits the second half of the contest, he’ll take over fully, maybe with his customary nosebleed.
Steve’s prediction: Ball Wins Pts 12 Goodman
Raymond Ford vs. Abraham Nova
Anthony Cacace’s withdrawal from his fight with Ray Ford left a world title hole that Nova filled. Not a bad replacement. I had Ford beating Nick Ball in their fight. It was close and a tough battle. Ford is skilled and fast. He’ll have to work hard to separate himself from Nova, who knows how to stay in a fight.
Steve’s prediction: Ford Wins Pts 12 Nova
Filip Hrgovic vs. David Adeleye
I’m not that convinced about Hrgovic. He’s lazy, has cut badly in the past, takes opponents lightly and doesn’t bang anywhere near as hard as once advertised. That said, it’s a big step-up for Adeleye, who does punch pretty hard, at a certain level.
I can’t see Hrgovic, given his amateur and championship experience, losing to someone like Adeleye. If he’s locked in, then the Croat’s accurate shots and strong jab should bust up the Englishman just after the halfway mark. A complacent attitude is Hrgovic’s biggest concern here.
Steve’s prediction: Hrgovic TKO 9 Adeleye
Hayato Tsutsumi vs. Qais Ashfaq
Boxing outside of his native Japan for the first time in his career, Tsutsumi should be too strong for Leeds’ thrice-beaten Ashfaq. The English fighter has been found out at a lower level than Tsutsumi aspires to and once the Chiba man gets the bit between his teeth, it should be one-way traffic.
Steve’s prediction: Tsutsumi TKO 5 Ashfaq
Mohammed Alakel vs. Yumnam Santosh Singh
Light-punching Saudi hope Alakel is improving but has a clear ceiling. 3-6 Indian Singh is a soft touch designed to keep Alakel’s winning run continuing.
Steve’s prediction: Alakel Pts 6 Singh

Great assessment of the night; I also thought that Itauma would finish Whyte in four!
Not particularly enthusiastic that Ball is fighting another super-bantamweight; he hasn’t been in a tough fight since Ford!
